ABOUT AIS (Active Isolated Stretching)
Information about AIS
Active Isolated Stretching was developed by Aaron Mattes over 40 years ago. It's a dynamic stretching system based on muscles and movements. The fundamental principle of AIS is based on reciprocal inhibition, when a muscle is contracted, the opposite muscle will be relaxed. AIS utilizes this principle to allow a deeper and stronger stretch without using excessive force, for a much more comfortable and relaxing stretch. It is also performed in repetitions, much like a "set" of exercise. This repetitive strict movement combined with deep breathing promotes better blood circulation, removing waste products and deliver fresh oxygen into the muscles.
